Heritage Village

In 2016 the Silver Skate Festival wanted to promote and document their Heritage Village Winter Encampment in order to draw more audience engagement and understanding to this unique winter experience. Through the work of First Nations interpreters and volunteers the festival hosts a village of First Nations structures, customs, and practices during the course of each year's festivities. Featuring the works and people from Cree, Inuit, and Metis communities, this village is a unique perspective on how indigenous peoples work and live in our sometimes inhospitable climate. POCOBRIO was tasked to edit a short 10 minute documentary based on videography from the festival. The resulting piece is an engaging look at the culture and activity of First Nations people, a culture that is a living reminder of our First Nations ancestry.
